After
After graduating from BTW, my family moved out of the immediate neighborhood.
We didn't move very far but we moved often. I attended Louis D. Brandeis HS,
like many other BTW babies. I found HS to be so impersonal. Too many students.
BTW felt like a family setting compared to HS (I barely made it). I attended
La Guardia College and majored in Accounting for a while before accepting
a job in the banking business. In between all this work and school, I did
party my ass off. I moved from bank to bank for eight years and was bored
out of my mind. During this time (1986), my son Fernando was born. I decided
to take the police test. I was hired in 1990. I worked numerous years on patrol.
I was able to see what Police Officers have to see and go through, that the
average Jane and John Doe Citizen do not experience. It is truly an eye opener.
I had the DIS-PLEASURE of transporting, in a paddy wagon a former friend,
fellow student and classmate from the days of BTW. It broke my heart. I've
ran into a few former students during my tenure on patrol (not in a good sense).
I've worked anti-crime, Narcotics under-cover, Internal Affairs. I was promoted
to Detective in 1998, while in Internal Affairs. I was divorced in 1999 and
bought a small house on Long Island (Bay Shore). I studied my ass off and
got promoted to Sergeant (my current rank now). I now work as a Patrol Sergeant
in the Bronx. I still attend school ( John Jay College). I consider myself
a "career student". :) I'm also studying for the next promotional
exam to Lt. I don't know if I'll make it but, I get to retire in 7 years and
a couple of months. I would like to believe that BTW had something to do with
molding me into the person I am today. So, thank you staff and students of
BTW. I applaud all the people who have made it, and pray that those who have
not, can find their way to the right path. God Bless.
